Inspirations:
Why I choose to do what I do
Passion and Fulfillment " Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." Chinese Proverb. I have long been inspired by this proverb, and I strive to make this a reality in my own life. I have many passions, and it has been a dream of mine to forge some of them into a fulfilling career: my passion for herbs, holistic healing, and ecological preservation, my desire to help others, and my creative drive. I believe that when we follow our hearts and our bliss, we can live truly beautiful, fulfilling lives. "When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open and love steps forth to heal everything in sight." Michael Bridge Purpose and Intent "Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen." Ralph Waldo Emerson "I slept and dreamt that life was Joy. I woke and saw that life was Duty. I acted, and behold, Duty was Joy." Rabinranath Tagore For me, living a purposeful and fulfilled life is imbued with the concept of duty, serving others, contributing to society those gifts I have to give, and hopefully making a positive difference in the lives of others and the world at large, however small that difference may seem. "You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand." Woodrow Wilson "Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so." Bette Davis Community and Cooperation "It is in the shelter of each other that the people live." Irish Proverb "It is through cooperation, rather than conflict, that your greatest successes will be derived." Ralph Charell Mutually Beneficial Sustainability: it sounds like a lofty concept, but in actuality it simply means people helping each other for the benefit of all. I know I am not alone in my desire to participate in and contribute to a sense of community. That is one of the reasons I choose to live where I do. If we work together and support each other's dreams and visions, we all benefit and move that much closer to seeing our dreams come to fruition. "If you want to be incrementally better: Be competitive. If you want to be exponentially better: Be cooperative." Author Unknown "Very few burdens are heavy if everyone lifts." Sy Wise Sharing and Contribution "Live to learn, learn to live, then teach others." Doug Horton "We do not own our knowledge; it is not ours to keep. We must share our gift of knowing with those who seek to know. Learning is a blessing, teaching is a gift, and knowledge is power! Let's empower others." C. Davis I believe that everyone is born with unique talents and gifts to contribute to the world, and that we are all students as well as teachers. When we share our talents, skills, and knowledge, we support and empower each other, and create mutually beneficial and fulfilling lives for all. "A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving." Albert Einstein "Imagine what a harmonious world it could be if every single person, both young and old shared a little of what he is good at doing." Quincy Jones Peace and Unity "We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now." "Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal." Martin Luther King, Jr. "Share our similarities, celebrate our differences." M. Scott Peck "Look for the good in everybody, starting with yourself." Marie T. Freeman In order to facilitate cooperation, community and mutually beneficial sustainability, it is important to foster acceptance, tolerance, and unity. We come from varied and often distinctly different backgrounds and beliefs, but if we respect and embrace these differences, we can more easily achieve our common goals and promote more fulfilling lives for everyone. "Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity." Psalms 133:1 "Peaceful living is about trusting those on whom we depend and caring for those who depend on us. Even if only a few individuals try to create mental peace and happiness within themselves and act responsibly and kind-heartedly towards others, they will have a positive influence in their community." The Dalai Lama Gratitude and Prosperity "Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes of which all men have some." Charles Dickens Finally, I believe that you get what you give: when you freely offer gratitude, compassion, generosity, caring, respect, love, understanding, and help to others, you receive the same in kind, and that makes life so much richer. "When we are grateful for the good we already have, we attract more good into our life. On the other hand, when we are ungrateful, we tend to shut ourselves off from the good we might otherwise experience." Margaret Stortz |
